Berlin Real Estate: Vandalism at lowest level since 1997.

BBU: decrease proves positive atmosphere in Berlin

Vandalism damages in Berlin are at their lowest level in nearly 20 years. This results in a current evaluation of the BBU (Association of Berlin-Brandenburg Housing Companies). The investigation shows that the cost of removing graffiti and other damage among the Berlin BBU member companies summed up to approx. 1.7 million euros in 2013. This is a quarter of the value of 1997 with about 7.1 million euros. Between 1997 and 2013 damages were caused in the amount of almost 66 million euros.

The decline in vandalism is as a sign that people identify with Berlin, says BBU executive chairman Maren Kern. It is a reflection of the positive development of Berlin, the solidarity of the people of Berlin with their city and a sign of good neighborhoods.
